Program Description
Learning Objective: To raise awareness of the infectious organism C. difficile, help staff learn to quickly identify and appropriately care for patients infected with C. difficile, and strictly follow infection prevention and control measures to fight this growing threat.
Clostridium difficile is the most common cause of infectious diarrhea acquired while being treated in a hospital, and the most common cause of acute diarrheal illness in long-term care facilities.
After finishing this program, employees will be able to:
- Learn what makes this organism so dangerous
- Understand how C. difficile is transmitted
- Recognize how to quickly identify patients with C. difficile-associated disease
- Understand what to do to prevent and control transmission, including proper hand hygiene and application of Contact Precautions
