Program Description
Learning Objective: To educate healthcare professionals on the importance of prevention, screening, surveillance of MRSA
Antibiotic-resistant organisms are associated with significantly higher morbidity, mortality and hospital costs. Of these, MRSA is one of the most epidemiologically important and has the fastest rising rates of infection in the health care facility.
The emergence of potentially deadly community-acquired MRSA poses not only a threat to persons outside of hospitals, but can also spread inside the heath care facility when the patient presents for treatment.
The objectives of this program are to:
- Increase awareness of the growing incidence of CA-MRSA and HA-MRSA
- Discuss the risk factors for acquiring MRSA
- Identify the reservoirs and modes of transmission for CA-MRSA and HA-MRSA
- Discuss strategies to identify MRSA and prevent and control transmission.
Use this program for:
- Nursing Education
- Physician Education
- Annual In-Service
- Mandatory Training
- Remedial/Risk Reduction
